Public Works Mission Statement

The Public Works Department strives to maintain good customer relations as it provides essential services. Investing in the City's infrastructure system by funding Capital Improvement Projects will maintain these services. Meeting the State and Federal Compliance regulations and continuing to provide quality service requires skillful management and a cooperative atmosphere of teamwork between the departments.

To enhance the quality of life by providing municipal services, protecting life and property with fiscal responsibility, while preserving our heritage for the citizens of Brigham City.

Public Works History

In 1964 a local engineer O. Neil Smith was appointed to serve as the community's first fulltime Public Works Director. As such he oversaw a multitude of activities including those of the streets, electrical, water, inspection, waste disposal and collection and engineering divisions.
