Accumulation of used or damaged lumber; junk; salvaged material. {Brigham City Code 13.01.030(d)}
Trash and rubbish include such items as blowing paper, discarded wire, empty bottles, broken glass. Items that can be used for the original purpose without repair or reconditioning are not considered junk.
Can I store junk, rubbish, etc. on my property?
No. It is the responsibility of each property to be kept in good and clean condition. This means all trash, etc. must be removed on a regular basis.

You may contact your garbage collection agency and ask them for a special pickup from your property. They may charge you for this service. You may also contact various land maintenance companies for assistance. Brigham City Corporation conducts a spring and fall cleanup. Please check your monthly billing statement for the dates.
Can I store an inoperable vehicle?
Yes. You are allowed three (3) inoperable vehicles, but they must be covered or behind a legally constructed visible barrier (such as a fence) which will shield the vehicle from view from the street or adjoining property. {Brigham City Code 16.03.110(c)}
I have a junk car, and I want to get rid of it. What do I do?
There are many options to consider. Often times, a vehicle salvage car yard will purchase your car from you and tow it away. However, it is not uncommon for a salvage yard to charge you for removing the vehicle.
One other option is to donate your junk car to the Box Elder Senior Services. They run an operation called "Wheels for Meals". They will haul away your car for free, and provide you with a receipt for a tax deduction. The money they help raise from parting with your car is used to help underwrite the costs for the Elderly in need. When you get rid of an inoperable vehicle, the city is cleaned up, and the elderly are assisted with much needed monetary assistance. If you wish to donate your vehicle to "Wheels for Meals" you may contact them at 1-435-723-3303. Brigham City Supports this program. |
